One person's trash...

is my treasure! I'm home from work for the 2nd day in a row due to the frigid temperatures, and it seemed terrible to waste the whole day inside. So, I ventured out to the local thrift stores and came home with a variety of treasures - both of the crafty kind and the literary kind.
I can't resist old books. I'm very excited about the atlas as the pictures inside are delightful. The Golden Egg Book is Little Golden Book reprint from the 70's - one more for our growing collection, and The Complete Christmas Book seemed like something everyone should have on their shelf to inspire holiday cheer!

Dreaming of spring

No work tomorrow - too cold! So I am wiling away the late-night hours dreaming of gardens I cannot plant until we find a forever house (which is still years away). I'll have to make do with the mysterious buds that pop out of our flower beds every spring. Two years ago I tried to document the flowers, identify and map them... I took some pictures, and identified like three flowers (daisies, coneflowers, lamb's ear). Apparently botany isn't my forte. Anyway, to help ease the chill of winter I'm sending out our deposit on a half-share at a local CSA. Click here for more info or to find one of your own!

Celebrations

Baby shower #3 is officially over. We have come away from these pre-baby celebrations so thankful, not just for the 'things' we've received but mostly for the kind words of encouragement.
:
I've really appreciated the stories, advice and antecdotes that have been shared as we head into the homeward stretch. It's comforting to know that everyone's had their ups and downs, and that we've got lots of support there when we need it!

Testing, testing

Wally was kind enough to serve as a 30lb test weight for the bassinet that we inherited. It passed with flying colors - just waiting for its new occupant!

Preparing

The diapers were washed...

And folded with care...

In hopes that a baby soon would be there!

Happy New Year

We rang in the new year quietly, and in the days since we've had time to reflect a bit on the past year. Besides some great trips, time with friends, and wonderful memories, 2008 also brought promise.

In just a few short weeks we will finally be able to meet the little girl we've been dreaming about for months, and we can hardly wait! We've been busy preparing here at home - there's plenty to wash, fold, put away, assemble or sew. We'll try to share some things with you in the upcoming weeks as this little dream becomes reality.
